LDPC Code Encoder Design
Application Background: The WiMAX standard became the fourth global 3G standard approved by ITU in 2007 following CDMA2000, WCDMA, and TD-SCDMA. This standard adopts LDPC codes as its optional channel coding scheme. WiMAX-standard LDPC codes have become a research hotspot in recent years due to their excellent error correction performance. Key Technologies: Based on fundamental LDPC decoding algorithms including probability-domain BP algorithm, log-domain BP algorithm, min-sum algorithm, offset min-sum algorithm, normalized min-sum algorithm, TDMP algorithm, and TDMP-NMS algorithm, this design addresses the slow convergence issue of BP-based simplified algorithms by implementing TDMP-NMS algorithm that combines TDMP's fast convergence with NMS's implementation simplicity, achieving a decoder supporting all code lengths and rates of WiMAX-standard LDPC codes.
