Simulation of Diversity Receivers Under Multipath Rayleigh Fading

Resource Overview

Simulation of diversity receivers under multipath Rayleigh fading conditions; incorporating multipath interference and interference from other users to the primary user, with MATLAB implementation of maximum ratio combining (MRC) and equal gain combining (EGC) algorithms

Detailed Documentation

We conducted simulation studies on diversity receivers operating under multipath Rayleigh fading conditions. The simulation comprehensively accounts for multipath interference and interference from secondary users affecting the primary user, enabling thorough analysis of system performance. By modeling multipath channel fading and interference scenarios using MATLAB's Communications Toolbox, we implemented key diversity combining techniques including selection combining, maximal ratio combining, and equal gain combining algorithms. This approach allows for better understanding and evaluation of diversity receiver performance in practical communication environments. The study employs Monte Carlo simulations with Rayleigh fading channel models generated using built-in functions like rayleighchan or comm.RayleighChannel, incorporating interference through additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and co-channel interference models. This research provides significant insights for optimizing system design to enhance communication quality and deepens understanding of multipath propagation effects on communication systems, with potential applications in 5G and wireless network performance analysis.
