During my undergraduate graduation project, I developed an automatic ID card number recognition algorithm. This algorithm is capable of automatically identifying ID card numbers and effectively extracting and recognizing them. The implementation enables fast and accurate acquisition of ID card numbers, which proves highly useful in various application scenarios such as automated ID information entry and ID number verification.
In developing this algorithm, I conducted in-depth research on the structure and validation rules of Chinese ID card numbers. Based on these characteristics, I designed a recognition system that incorporates several key technical components. The algorithm implementation includes image preprocessing techniques for handling various image qualities, character segmentation methods for isolating individual digits, and optical character recognition (OCR) modules for digit identification. Additionally, I implemented validation checks using the checksum digit calculation to ensure recognition accuracy.
Through this project, I significantly enhanced my understanding and application of algorithm design principles. The experience provided a solid foundation for my future research and professional work in computer vision and pattern recognition technologies. The algorithm demonstrates practical implementation of image processing techniques and data validation methods that can be adapted to similar document recognition tasks.
