A Novel Color Image Segmentation Method Based on Unit-Linking PCNN and HSI Color Space

By integrating a novel method for color image segmentation based on Unit-Linking PCNN and HSI color space, we have developed a more refined and accurate image segmentation technique. This approach effectively captures detailed features and color information within images, achieving superior segmentation precision. Our methodology not only considers pixel connectivity relationships but also utilizes the color properties of HSI space, thereby better preserving structural and chromatic characteristics during segmentation. Key implementation aspects include: using HSI space for luminance-independent color processing, employing Unit-Linking PCNN for synchronized pixel firing based on regional connectivity, and combining spatial and color features through optimized parameter tuning. This novel method delivers enhanced segmentation performance, offering significant potential for advancing research and applications in image processing domains.
