In power systems, transmission line fault detection has always been a critical issue. Traditional fault detection methods include distance protection-based approaches and differential protection-based techniques. However, these conventional methods are susceptible to line parameter variations and external interference, resulting in limited detection accuracy. Consequently, phasor measurement has been widely adopted in recent years for fault detection in power systems. This paper proposes a novel fault location algorithm for transmission lines based on phasor measurement. The algorithm implements sophisticated signal processing techniques to effectively mitigate the impact of line parameter changes and external disturbances, while significantly improving fault detection accuracy and computational efficiency. The core implementation involves real-time phasor data processing through discrete Fourier transform (DFT) algorithms and adaptive filtering mechanisms to handle dynamic system conditions. This approach demonstrates high practical value and significant potential for widespread adoption in modern power system protection schemes.
